The forum will be held via Zoom, all are welcome, and closed captioning will be provided.
Michael Kink & Charles Khan – Executive & Organizing Director, Strong Economy For All Coalition

Judy Sheridan-Gonzalez, President, New York State Nurses Association
Len Rodberg – Board Member, PNHP-NY Metro and Campaign for New York Health
As the pandemic ravages our communities, millions of New Yorkers have faced job losses or cutbacks and can’t afford rent, groceries, or health insurance. The proposed New York Health Act would guarantee healthcare for all, regardless of employment status — and thus is more urgent than ever.
At the same time, powerful NY politicians are calling for further austerity cuts threatening Medicaid, public health programs, education, housing, and transit. Meanwhile, New York’s 120 billionaires grew their wealth by $77 billion (totaling $600 billion+) just during the pandemic. Governor Cuomo has pressured the legislature to cut taxes for the wealthiest New Yorkers and big corporations. The top 1% now have the lowest tax burden. The Invest in Our New York Act is a package of 6 bills that end tax breaks for the wealthiest New Yorkers and raise $50 billion to invest in public schools, CUNY & SUNY, housing, workers, youth, and state and local government budget gaps.
Come hear from leaders of both campaigns about:
- what they are proposing and why,
- how both efforts are part of the same fight (for equity, fairness and justice), and
- how you can support the campaign to pass these proposals in the State Legislature.
The Invest In Our NY Campaign is a coalition founded by the Strong Economy for All Coalition, Alliance for Quality Education, VOCAL-NY Housing Justice for All Citizen Action of NY, Democratic Socialists of NYC, Make the Road NY, NY Communities for Change, Empire State Indivisible and the Working Families Party. Hundreds of other organizations have signed on, including PNHP – NY Metro and such allies as the Campaign for NY Health, the NY State Nurses Association, and Metro New York Health Care for All.
