CALLING ALL WHITE BODIES (and all others who feel safe to do so) TO GATHER AGAINST WHITE SUPREMACY IN WOODSTOCK, NY
This Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 1:00-3:00PM
This Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 1:00-3:00PM
WHAT: We are gathering in response to a white supremacy rally that took place in Woodstock on Friday 2/11/22 and to comparable hate-fueled rallies that have happened across the Hudson Valley, including a rally with similar messaging on 1/18 in Chatham NY. We are gathering to stand in solidarity with our Black, Brown, Indigenous and Jewish neighbors, community members and small businesses. We are gathering to denounce white supremacy. *Bring signs, instruments, and megaphones to amplify this message.*
WHO: This event was organized by local community members, private businesses and social justice organizations. This event is by and for the people and we encourage all who want to denounce white supremacy to attend.
WHERE TO GATHER: We will be meeting on the public sidewalks around the village green in Woodstock, NY. *Please note the village green is private property and we do not have a permit to assemble there.
WHERE TO PARK: There are multiple municipal parking lots in the town of Woodstock; the two nearest to the gathering are both accessed via Rock City Road.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this rally is to denounce sentiments of white supremacy in our community and stand in solidarity with our Black, Brown, Indigenous and Jewish community. We hope it serves to empower other towns in the Hudson Valley and beyond to stand up to white supremacy in their communities. Lastly, we want the world to know that these people do not represent Woodstock or the Hudson Valley and that we do not stand for white supremacy here.
ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION: This event is taking place on public sidewalks. If you are interested to attend but concerned about physical or mental accessibility, please email celebrate845@gmail.com with your name and any specific needs.
SAFETY PROTOCOLS: While this is an outdoor gathering, please respect the boundaries of others around COVID-19 and do not assume your boundaries are the same as others. Maintain a 6-foot distance, wear a mask covering the entire nose and mouth, and ask for consent from the people around you before acting differently.
SPACE TO PROCESS: Harana Market (603 Wittenberg Road) is offering space to gather with the community before/after/during the rally from 11am-6pm. This offer centers Black, Brown, Indigenous and Jewish community members. All bodies are welcome but please be conscious of who the space centers and what you are taking from or contributing to the gathering. We will gather outside (dress warm) and will provide fire pits and hot ginger tea to all who attend
